Intermediate One – Advancing Training, Overcoming Challenges & Strengthening Skills Building on your accredited journey so far, this stage helps you and your dog grow in calmness, confidence and everyday reliability. Welcome to the third stage of our training programme! As your puppy matures, training becomes more challenging. With a strong foundation, we can navigate this transition smoothly. We're here to support you—just ask if you need help! What Your Dog Will Learn: 🐾 Heelwork with distractions (The Weave) 🐾 Clearer communication through body language 🐾 Reliable recall under distractions 🐾 Sit & Down stays with duration and distance 🐾 Off-lead exercises (when appropriate) 🐾 Strengthening Retrieve 🐾 Increased focus and attention span 🐾 Social exercises for real-world scenarios Week-by-Week Breakdown: Week 1 – Building Foundations 🔹 Goal setting & calming stroking 🔹 Heelwork introduction 🔹 Distance control in training 🔹 Sit Stay Week 2 – Strengthening Focus 🔹 Heelwork (close & loose lead) 🔹 Watch at heel 🔹 Weaving around dogs & handlers 🔹 Sit & Down Stay 🔹 Short recall & Retrieve 🔹 Introduce tying up (outdoor class) Week 3 – Precision & Awareness 🔹 Watch at heel & weaving 🔹 Understanding turns (on the spot & moving) 🔹 Strengthening stays 🔹 Retrieve & tying up practice Week 4 – Off-Lead Control 🔹 Dog swap – handling different dogs 🔹 Distance control 🔹 Off-lead recall from a stay 🔹 Meet & greet exercises Week 5 – Refining Skills 🔹 Distance control (with/without hand signals) 🔹 Polite greetings & meet & greet practice 🔹 Test run-through (including Retrieve) Week 6 – Graduation 🔹 Final test & Awarding of Certificates Raising Expectations At this stage, we can challenge your puppy further.
