Service Description

If you are looking for a training course for you and your puppy that is practical, effective, friendly and fun, then this is for you! Maximum of 5 puppies in a class ensures success! Held in the St Johns Church Hall Saxmundham. The first parts of our training programme, puppy part one and two, is all about creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for you and your puppy. Whilst laying some solid foundations in your training and most importantly your relationship to your puppy, a relationship we hope you will enjoy for the next 15 years or more. By learning how to communicate with your puppy, firstly by understanding their language we can progress to teaching them ours. In these first 6 sessions, you gain the knowledge to communicate effectively with your puppy. More importantly, you will understand how to positively shape your puppy’s behaviour while avoiding the pitfalls of communicating humanly with the dog instead of talking dog! Learn to speak dog and read dog - become a true dog whisperer! Exercises are explained in simple steps that make success easy and fun for the dog and owner. By the conclusion of this course, you and your puppy will have started the training process of: - Come to call - Walk on a lead - Sit on command - Down on command - Enjoy being groomed and handled - Relaxed in the company of other puppy’s and people - How to get and keep your puppy’s attention As well as minimising unwanted behaviour such as: - Jumping up - Play biting - Barking Communicating primarily at this stage with body language and hand signals. Week one: Goal setting and introductions Calming exercise Understanding class from your puppy’s perspective Body language (learn to speak and listen in dog language, dog whispering!) Sit and down on command. Week two: Sit and down the practice. The watch exercise (getting, keeping and increasing the attention span) Recall on lead (formal version) Recall off lead (informal version) 
 Week three: Sits and downs Recall Beginning of lead training Grooming (please bring grooming kit) Week four: Sits and downs Recall Lead training (formal) Play biting and how to avoid getting bitten 
 Week five: Sit and down Recall Heel off lead Teaching your dog English Week six: Recap of all training to date Jumping up and social exercises

Cancellation Policy

Please be aware Course fees & deposits are non-refundable & non-transferable, if you are purchasing a place on a course with limited places you cannot transfer to a different time or class after the course has commenced, as this is too disruptive for the other group. However should a course be cancelled or a start date postponed you are fully entitled to a full refund if you cannot make the new dates.
