Mastering Recall with thedogcalmer As the founder of thedogcalmer, Avril understands just how crucial it is to have a reliable recall. Years ago, her beloved dog wouldn’t always come when called—a mistake that led to a life-changing accident when the dog was hit by a car. Though the dog made a full recovery after extensive rehabilitation, the experience was a turning point for Avril. She was determined to ensure other dog owners didn’t face the same heartache. This set her on a path of dedicated research, which ultimately led to the development of the recall training method she now teaches. Alongside Avril, Caroline, a seasoned trainer with experience in fieldwork, brings invaluable expertise to this course. Caroline’s extensive experience training multiple dogs adds further depth to the training techniques, making this program truly exceptional. The Secret to Reliable Recall Training a dog to reliably come when called is a process that requires patience, consistency, and the right techniques. With thedogcalmer’s approach, you’ll receive the guidance and tools necessary to make recall second nature for your dog. Tailored Training for Every Dog Dogs are individuals and require different approaches at each stage of development. That’s why we keep our training groups small—no more than five handlers at a time—to ensure each dog receives the attention it deserves. We gradually introduce real-life distractions, including other dogs, people, and even chickens, to build resilience in recall. Structured Recall Sessions Our recall training follows a step-by-step progression, from beginner to advanced levels, culminating in the ultimate challenge: recalling your dog amidst distractions. Avril or Caroline will personally lead each session, ensuring that you and your dog develop the skills you need to succeed. The Perfect Setting for Learning Training takes place in a tranquil, rural location near Abbess Roding, within 2 acres of fully fenced paddock. This secure environment allows your dog to learn without the stress of external distractions. A Lifelong Skill for a Well-Balanced Dog Building a reliable recall takes time and consistency, with ongoing training essential until your dog reaches maturity (typically at least two years old). With thedogcalmer’s comprehensive program, you’ll have the support and expertise you need to create a well-behaved and balanced companion. Are you ready to build an unbreakable recall with your dog?
